Democracy – a failed experiment?
Was the try with the democracy in India failed? How did the mentors of our country thought its going to work? Let’s talk about the much prayed concept of Adult Franchise. It gave the right to vote to every one upper caste, lower caste, Hindu Muslim, everyone alike but is everyone capable to decide what is good or bad for him, country, and society? How can we expect a person drank to such an extent that he beats his wife, kids n then be able to vote and decide the fate of the country? How an illiterate person who can’t even decide what is good for him (may not be true for all illiterates) be able to decide the fate of the country?
People will call me anti-democratic or a danger to the prevailing society and will stop me from following the track, those people will call themselves democratic , but did democracy didn’t allowed me to express my views? Let’s talk about the system because a lot is blamed on politicians and I don’t agree totally with the people who blame them? The politicians whom we see everyday are one among us and are being selected through ballot and by adult franchise , so how can you blame them for all the sins taking place around the country? The problem lies with the system. The day you allow people with criminal background, insensitive and ignorant person who can’t even think whats good or bad to vote, the whole concept of democracy looses its upper hand and causes more harm than good.
This is not the problem with any solution. This can be solved; the only thing required is some change in the system not just brush-ups but complete make over. Bring people to a level to think from where let them govern or decide whats good or bad for them as well as society but till they didn’t reach such a level , for god sake forbid them from deciding the fate of the country .
Let me say something about the reservations too. Is it doing any good? Yes, it did help in bringing up the backwards classes in society ladder but when we go for the harm it’s causing to the society as a whole then the harm is much more than the gains. How can’t you understand the feelings of the people from whose pie you are taking away? How can you justify to the harm its causing to the country as a whole? Engineers, doctors are specialized jobs. A lot of fund is spend on them from government exchequer (that’s our money), then how come we accept a lesser mortal than what we can easily have, serving us in government hospitals and other service center. Here also I, as a well aware citizen can ask the government for the best service when I m paying my taxes regularly and I m accountable to all the expenses of government money? Here also I have got a suggestion, let’s stick to the idea of reservation till specialization comes in picture. We can’t have a person do some specialized job because he is from a particular caste or community. As a trend the people are trying to be a part of the backward community and are doing whatever they can to prove themselves to be backward. This was the observation made by honorable Supreme Court recently and by no means it can be termed as a favorable trend. Cant we provide all the facility to everyone irrespective of caste, color, creed .Reservations should be provide at the initial level because as soon as we provide reservation at the higher level we loose a good engineer, a good doctor on one side and on the other side we are alienating a good part of our community, the part which can think whats good and whats bad.
Let’s walk on the path of light and let’s make it the golden bird again. Let’s start another renaissance, one which will make people to think, to decide the path to follow n make our country a real utopian place to live in.
